Educational requirements necessary to confront threats to Arabic linguistic security.

Abstract

This research is summarized in clarifying the threats to Arab linguistic security represented in the weakness of Arabic language level in society, education and the media, due to cultural globalization, the dominance of some international foreign languages on many aspects of Arab life, linguistic pluralism that may resist the common national language, the spread of colloquial languages in various areas of life, the attempt to obliterate the Arab cultural identity, and the dependence by some Arab institutions and some Arab intellectuals and youth on foreign culture, which caused their cultural alienation. Inadequate legislation and laws necessary to protect the Arabic language, Inadequate educational linguistic planning for teaching Arabic in educational institutions, and adoption of a foreign language for educating and teaching in some Arab educational institutions are factors that enhance the threat to Arabic linguistic security. In addition, there are problems in the issues of Arabic terminology, translation, Arabization of science and education. The research presented the educational requirements to achieve Arabic linguistic security and confront its threats. . One of the main findings of the research was that Arab linguistic security was part of national security, linked to its cultural, intellectual, social, scientific, economic and technological components, and that cultural and linguistic globalization was one of the most serious threats to Arab linguistic security. As Arab linguistic security is achieved through the concerted efforts of all educational institutions
